Figure Painting is an interactive wall installation that reflects the movement and connections of individuals passing through a public space. A person's shadow is projected with its own unique color, exaggerated in scale so that users are instantly made aware of their presence in the space. A faint color trail emphasizes their movement and even after it quickly fades, a small residue is left on the wall to permanently mark where and how a person has moved. Furthermore, when two shadows touch one another, they become the same color to highlight the connections of individuals in the space.
